Serena Choo writes from a LIVED exploration of consciousness, not as an abstract concept, but as lived experience

Her work grew from a long search for relief from striving, self-doubt, and overthinking. For many years, she looked for answers in performance, personal development, psychology, and spiritual practice. Some of it helped. But it didn’t bring freedom.

What changed was not another method, but a shift in perspective… a recognition that peace and clarity were not things to build, but qualities already present beneath layers of learned conditioning… habits of thought learned over time.

That understanding now forms the quiet foundation of all her books.

Before writing full time, Serena worked in finance and investment banking and later spent more than 25 years as an executive and personal transformation coach. She supported professionals navigating imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and the pressures of achievement. Along the way, she gathered many tools and trainings, and eventually realised that the deepest shifts came not from adding more techniques, but from seeing differently and letting go.

Her books explore this.

Some take the form of gentle, Zen-inspired stories about a restless mind learning to settle. Others are more grounded and direct, addressing self-doubt and identity in practical ways. Beneath both is the same thread: a movement from effort toward awareness, from control toward clarity.

Readers come from different places. Some arrive anxious and mentally tired. Some come from professional environments shaped by performance and self-criticism. Some are already familiar with Buddhist or contemplative traditions and recognise echoes of teachings they’ve long explored.

Serena’s work does not aim to teach doctrine or create followers. It is relational, not hierarchical. It invites recognition rather than belief and leaves space for readers to discover what feels true for themselves.

What she most hopes for those drawn to her writing is not improvement, but freedom: the ease that comes from reconnecting with one’s authentic self and moving through life with less effort and more ease.
